We hear more and more about quantum computing, yet many people still know little about it. Quantum physics, however, has been part of our daily lives for decades, in mobile phone chips, lasers and MRI scanners. Quantum computing goes one step further: it is a new way of computing that harnesses the laws governing [...]
The Eurecat technology centre is coordinating the European Thunder project to develop a new modular technology for producing e-methanol from captured carbon dioxide, water vapour and waste heat. This initiative aims to reduce the costs and environmental impact associated with this sustainable synthetic fuel, one of the most promising alternatives for defossiling hard-to-electrify sectors [...]
In a global context marked by the need to combat pollution and preserve natural resources, bioremediation is emerging as a key technology to restore degraded environments. This environmental technology, based on the use of microorganisms, offers effective and environmentally friendly solutions to address problems such as soil, water and sediment pollution. Its potential to [...]
The technology centre Eurecat coordinates the international PANACEA project, that promotes the adoption of Mediterranean, healthy and sustainable eating habits in pregnant women from the second trimester until the baby's first four months. The project integrates nutritional and culinary education, digital coaching tools, motivation strategies and initiatives to promote local consumption, with the aim [...]
The European Commission has entrusted the technology centre Eurecat with leading the development of the first major European artificial intelligence model for robotics in the industry. The initiative will receive more than €40 million in funding and aims to help strengthen Europe’s industrial sovereignty. This foundation model, to be developed within the European GRAIL [...]
Climate resilience is key to adapting Mediterranean territories to the effects of climate change, protecting ecosystems and generating new opportunities through the bioeconomy. From the retreat of deltas to the loss of fertility of fields, through increasingly vulnerable forests, more extreme temperatures and coastal regression, the effects of climate change are already part of [...]
Quantum computing was the focus of the latest edition of the "8:30 a.m. Tech & Business Breakfast", held on 26 May at Eurecat Manresa's premises. The event, organised by Gest and Eurecat with the support of the Cambra de Comerç de Manresa, also served to introduce the QuantIA Lab to the region's business community. [...]
The mobility of the future is built on highly interconnected cyber-physical systems, where vehicles, infrastructure and digital services make decisions in real time. In this environment, a cyber-attack has a systemic effect and not only affects data but can have direct physical consequences, such as altering trajectories, disrupting services or compromising people's safety. This [...]
The Eurecat technology centre has expanded its technological capabilities to provide comprehensive support across the entire circular textile value chain, from fibre design and development to recycling and reuse, with particular focus on covering all stages of innovation in this field — an area estimated to grow to €31 billion in Europe by 2030 [...]
Critical infrastructures, such as electricity grids, water distribution and supply networks, the public sector, transport or financial systems, underpin the functioning of a modern society. Any attack that compromises their integrity or affects their availability can have serious consequences for public safety, the economy or the environment. In this context, cyber resilience in critical [...]
