Research and innovation in IT security matters
The IT & OT Security Department at Eurecat is made up of a group of mixed-profile engineers and mathematicians (researchers and ethical hackers) who carry out two main activities: on one hand, research and innovation in IT security matters and, on the other, approaches to more worrying cybersecurity issues.
Experience
- Cybersecurity (APT, malware, detection, mitigation, deep web, anti-ransomware, etc.).
- Digital identity and privacy (biometrics, access control, identity, privacy, LMP).
- Authentication and security in cloud computing environments.
- Virtual currency (block chain and data integrity).
- Mobile platform security (secure authentication on Android and iOS).
- Cybersecurity in industrial environments (critical infrastructures, SCADA, PLC, DCS, etc.).
- Cybersecurity in Industry 4.0, IoT, drones and cars.
Services

Auditing
- Security with a group of mixed-profile engineers (doctors, researchers and hackers).
- Black-box and white-box testing.
- Security in networks, services, applications, websites, etc.
- Cybersecurity in industrial environments, including IoT elements and critical infrastructure (SCADA, DCS, PLC, etc.).

Consultancy
- Cybersecurity in all sectors where data plays an important role, both for companies and for clients.
- In cloud computing environments, with experience working for the CSA (Cloud Security Alliance).
- IT security in big data environments, data analysis, predictive analysis, etc.
- In security and cybersecurity under the “Security by Design” umbrella.
- Own products and solutions: UNISEC (integral security suite), DeepSearch, CIC (Cybersecurity Intelligence Centre), Floodr, etc.

Investigation
- Development in privacy, biometric authentication and identity.
- Blockchain and data integrity innovation.
- Innovation in cryptography and prediction, trend and detection algorithms.
- Artificial intelligence innovation and development.
- Cybersecurity innovation and development (deep web, dark net, APT, anti-ransomware, malware, etc.).

Juan Caubet
Director of the IT & OT Security Unit at Eurecat
Juan Caubet is a doctor of IT security and a telecommunications engineer from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). He completed his doctoral thesis as part of the IT Security Group (ISG) at the UPC on identity management on structured P2P networks. For over 7 years, he has carried out and managed R&D projects in the field of digital identity management, cryptography and cybersecurity for industrial infrastructures. In 2013, he was a visiting researcher at the Inria Nancy – Grand Est Research Centre (France), where he looked further into the security challenges posed by identity management on P2P networks.
From 2014 to 2017, he taught on the La Salle master’s course in cybersecurity (Ramon Llull University). He has been leading Eurecat’s research into block chain technology for over 2 years. His current research focuses on industrial and critical infrastructure cybersecurity, blockchain technology and online digital identity management (authentication and authorisation).
