The AVINT project aims to develop and introduce an application for predicting the roughness and surface finish of mechanised pieces for their optimal surface integrity. In addition, the project will allow new products and pieces with added value to be obtained, such as mechanised tools, coverings for tools and lubricants/cooling agents.

The project focuses its activity on optimising the efficiency of metallic mechanised processes, using simulation and optimisation tools and automatic learning for greater optimisation of the quality control and surface integrity of the components.

AVINT is a project of the  RIS3CAT Comunitat Indústries del Futur (IdF)  with the participation of Industrias Teixidó, Mecanitzats Privat, GUTMAR, FLUBETECH, IMCAR TOOLS, FUCHS LUBRICANTES, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, the International Centre of Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) and Eurecat. The objective of the Community is to consolidate an innovative powder that is a leader in efficient, sustainable manufacturing in Catalonia, through the development of a network of abilities and pilot plants that will serve to streamline and consolidate the value chain of industrial Research, Development and Innovation.

Eurecat is leading the project through its Metallic and Ceramic Materials Unit, which has been responsible for the surface integration of mechanised pieces and mechanised tools and the design of specific assays to determine the working life of components. In addition, the Smart Management Systems Unit also participates in the project by developing a database and the predictive application of the roughness based on recognition of automatic learning patterns and techniques.
