BUILT2SPEC EURECAT

To reduce the energy efficiency differences between the envisaged design specs and the ultimate performance of a building—i.e., the energy gap—is the main goal of Built2Spec. It offers a new set of technological advances for the inspection of construction sites. They are helpful to achieve the European requirements of energy efficiency and more sustainable construction at a much lower cost.

The objective of Built2Spec is the reduction of the energy efficiency differences between the envisaged design specs and the ultimate performance of a building.

To achieve this ambitious objective, Built2Spec offers a new set of technological advances for automated inspection to construction professionals so they can self-inspect the buildings through a specific quality control system. These technologies are incorporated into a management platform in the cloud, perfected in keeping with BIM standards, and structured to reflect the design and delivery of more efficient integrated frameworks (IDDS -Integrated design and delivery services ….) in terms of cost/time and energy efficiency, in keeping with NZEB objectives. The new integrated platform is displayed in the construction of 8 buildings throughout Europe.

Eurecat contributes to the project bringing its expertise through the Integral Projects and Laboratories Unit. In addition, Eurecat, in cooperation with some Built2Spec partners, has developed  a drone and tools for the aerial inspection of a construction site. This data acquisition pipeline automates the generation of highly-realistic three-dimensional reconstructions that can serve to compare the “as-planned” model extracted from the BIM system against the “as-built” model generated by the drone.

Built2Spec technology will provide a series of intelligent tools for building developers to help them easily achieve European’s energy efficiency requirements and, ultimately, achieve more sustainable constructions at a much lower cost.
