New sustainable products through the transformation of ladle slag into high value-added products.

The CYCLO-SLAG project develops an innovative and sustainable solution by transforming ladle slag into high value-added products with the aim to promote a sustainable approach and diversify the industrial sectors and markets for the final products.

In this way, the use of ladle slag would be made profitable by turning it into a resource capable of generating income and, at the same time, reducing the costs associated with its management, increasing the competitiveness of the company and reducing the environmental impact of steel production.

Eurecat, that participates in the project through its Waste, Energy and Environmental Impact (WEEI) Unit; Water, Air and Soil (WAS) Unit and the Metal and Ceramic Materials Unit; will carry out the transformation of the slag into high added value products such as blasting media and zeolites.

CYCLO-SLAG is led by CELSA, the company that generates the slag to be valorised, which has years of experience developing projects for the recovery of steel by-products.
