Development of competitive and innovative technologies to reduce costs associated with the management and treatment of residual effluents of complex composition to obtain water of adequate quality of its management.
The main objective of EFLUCOMP is to do research for the development of competitive and efficient technologies to deal with the presence of contaminants in effluents, such as persistent organic matter or high salinity. These technologies include separation methods (via membranes, elements, adsorption), biological processes and other innovative technologies, such as advanced oxidation processes.
EFLUCOMP solution reduces exploitation and operative costs, guaranteeing the efficiency in the reduction of contaminants and putting emphasis on the energy and reagents costs. It also facilitates the implementation of systems for the recovery of valuable products and for obtaining water with the required quality to be reused in the same facilities that generate residual effluents.
The project, coordinated by Eurecat through its Sustainability Unit, counts with the participation of the principal research centres of this sectors, like the University Rovira i Virgili, Leitat, the Catalan Institute for Water Research (ICRA), and the companies Protecmed, Aplicat, Acciona, Deisa, Aitasa and Aqualia.
