EUR2J EURECAT

Transformation of social thinking that favors energy savings and efficiency at the same levels as savings and economic performance.

The From Euro to Joule (EUR2J) project uses tools from the science of complex systems to study and understand how the dynamics of social transmission condition citizens’ acquisition of knowledge and the adoption of new habits and technologies in the context of energy.

This transformation involves a process of training and educating citizens that enables them to make responsible and sustainable decisions and protects them against misinformation.

In this sense, EUR2J promotes the creation of a digital platform with training resources related to energy.

EUR2J studies the impact that the content has on social networks depending on the language (scientific or viral) used and analyzes the temporal and geographical patterns followed by new self-consumption photovoltaic installations, with the aim of understanding to what extent these are due to phenomena of social imitation.

The final objective is to assess the influence that these social dynamics have on the process of penetration of the energy transition in society, and on the potential strategies and promotion campaigns that are proposed.

The EUR2J consortium is led by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), experts in the field of energy, and has the participation of the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems (IFISC), a center specialized in the study of complex systems and social dynamics.

Eurecat participates through its Big Data & Data Science Unit, which studies the spread of information in social networks in the field of energy transition.

Related SDGs

Through the study of social networks, we seek to understand how information related to the energy transition spreads in order to promote reliable content in the field of energy transition. By promoting the use of renewable energies that have a lower cost, the aim is to achieve a greater production of non-polluting, more affordable energy.

Development of a model to understand the social dynamics in the installation of solar panels. A better understanding of the adoption processes of this technology helps to design better policies to promote green energies and more sustainable communities.

Study of social dynamics in the field of energy transition. Facilitating access to information on sustainable energy production and encouraging energy savings, which has a direct impact on reducing emissions and climate change. By creating a platform with training content, the population is better trained to understand the problem of climate change and take action.
