GREEN-LOG EURECAT

Acceleration of systemic changes to create last-mile delivery ecosystems that are economically, ecologically and socially sustainable.

The GREEN-LOG project offers Logistics-as-a-Service platforms for interconnected city logistics, automated delivery concepts using autonomous vehicles and delivery droids, cargo-bike-based innovations for sustainable micro-consolidation, and multimodal parcel deliveries integrating public transport network.

The GREEN-LOG approach boosts a cutting-edge simulation environment for scenario building combining different solutions to enable the integration of last-mile delivery interventions with the highest possible impact on environmental sustainability and traffic reduction, also considering their financial viability.

The solutions are supported by networked city logistics dataspaces that supply dynamic services for proactive ecosystem optimisation while respecting the interests of stakeholders including consumers, businesses, and the city.

A planning and decision support framework supports stakeholders to tailor solutions to their actual goals. Real-time decision support services coordination provides the means to continuously calibrate the road transport network while anticipating unforeseen events and optimising deliveries.

The approach is deployed and validated in five Urban Living Labs, addressing varying urban and peri-urban contexts as well as economic and social conditions: Athens, Barcelona, Flanders (Gent, Leuven and Mechelen), Oxfordshire and Ispra. The Living Labs will enable gathering qualitative and quantitative results, validating the effectiveness, and showcasing the transferability in a set of three follower cities: Arad, Helsinborg, and Valga.

Eurecat participates in the GREEN-LOG project through two technological units:

  • The Applied Artificial Intelligence Unit participates in the creation of the data space and the platform to integrate applications around the design and operation of last-mile logistics solutions with zero emissions. In addition, it leads the demonstration activities in the Living Labs ensuring the smooth development and synergies between them.
  • The Robotics & Automation Unit contributes its knowledge to identify innovative automation applications that improve the distribution of urban goods.
