The Hermes programme aims to improve rail transport for granular goods by optimizing its operating efficiency, an aspect which currently limits operations. The project will create a new concept in practical and flexible wagons in order to improve competitiveness and reduce operational costs in freight rail transport.
This type of wagon will offer higher capacity than current ones and optimize loading and unloading processes in order to improve logistic operations and lower transport costs thanks to the greater operational flexibility involved.
Led by Iberpotash-ICL Iberia, this project will last for 36 months with nine participating members from four European countries (France, Denmark, Sweden, and Spain). Hermes complies with the objectives of the European Shift2Rail programme focused on promoting rail transport in Europe.
