Innovative insulating and energy storage materials in building envelopes that have climate adaption capabilities.
The iClimaBuilt project develops and implements advanced energy technologies materials, with improved insulation and energy harvesting properties, for smart building materials which have the ability to adapt to a diversity of climates.
On the other hand, iClimaBuilt updates and designs facilities called “Open Innovation Test Bed”, which provide the industry with services focused on the design, development, testing and validation of different technologies and materials for saving energy and reducing emissions.
Additionally, to promote Nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEB), the project will provide help and support to companies in the sector so that they can face the continuous high technology complexity. iClimaBuilt will select materials and designs based on a circular economy perspective that consider the environmental, economic and social effects that may appear along the value chain.
The research carried out by the project will allow the development of materials and energy technologies capable of improving thermal performance and air quality with functional solutions in buildings, as well as the design and assembly of fully customisable, flexible, modular and removable technical systems.
The iClimaBuilt consortium has launched an open call for projects that want to test their materials for facade or interior applications, aimed at small and medium-sized companies and European agents in the building and building envelope materials sector, as well as small consortia of companies.
Proposals can be submitted until December 30th and Eurecat will be one of the entities that will offer testing and infrastructure services to the selected projects, to scale their projects and technologies into innovations for the market.
iClimaBuilt, coordinated by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), counts with the participation of Eurecat through its Water, Air and Soil (WAS) Unit, the Waste, Energy and Environmental Impact (WEEI) Unit, the Product Development Unit and the Consultancy Department.
