Innovative water recovery solutions through recycling of heat, materials and water across different and multiple sectors.
The iWAYS project develops a set of technologies in order to increase water efficiency through three main solutions: exhaust condensation, water treatment and waste valorisation. Other than water, the project is also focused on energy and material recovery from exhaust gases, thus improving the raw material efficiency and reducing emissions detrimental to the environment.
Despite the efforts made to achieve the transition towards a more eco-friendly society and industry, the annual global extraction of materials tripled over the last 50 years. The iWAYS project, which counts with the participation of the Applied Artificial Intelligence Unit from Eurecat, has the objective to reverse this trend by the introduction of several technologies focused on environmental challenges and assisting economic growth and productivity.
The technologies developed by the project will be capable to recover water and energy from exhaust gases in the industrial processes. Additionally, iWAYS solutions will reduce freshwater consumption by 30% to 64%, and recovery water and heat from humid gases by 30%.
iWAYS project is formed by a consortium of 19 partners from 9 European countries.
