Project Description

Paprika Eurecat

Personalised technological programme to prepare patients for surgery and provide follow-up, as a way to improve the outcomes of the operation.

PAPRIKA project aims to improve the quality of life of patients who needs a surgery through a personalised program that allows a better preparation of the intervention, reduces postoperative complications and helps to improve the recovery, as well as a reduction in the hospitalization time and the costs associated with these interventions.

The solution developed by PAPRIKA incorporates two digital solutions: an adaptive case management platform for professionals, integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) and a self-management app for patients. The program offers a close collaboration among the medical environment surrounding the patient that allows collaborative medical approach and reduces the unnecessary interactions with tertiary attention.

The program developed by PAPRIKA, which will roll out in Spain, France and Poland, also integrates short-term preoperative interventions, averaging about four weeks and includes endurance training, promotion of physical activity and nutritional and psychological support.

The project consortium is formed by Eurecat, the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona, The Consortium Institute of Biomedical Investigations August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), the University of Barcelona, Leitat, the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA), Fraunhofer and Atos Spain.

The project also counts with the support of EIT Health community, that offers financial resources and a collaborative network for the commercialisation.
