PathoCERT Eurecat

Development of innovative technologies with the aim to give a response to pathogen contamination emergencies.

The PathoCERT project researches and demonstrates a collection of novel, cost-effective and easy-to-use pathogen contamination emergency response technologies, tools and guidelines, which will be field validated by the first responders. PathoCERT has the objective to strengthen the coordination and response capability of first responders in handling waterborne pathogen contamination events and other potential and harmful illness spread out through water.

The innovations promoted by the project are based on the management of contamination by pathogens transmitted through water, from the detection of the situation to the epidemiological evaluation, risk of threats and criminal investigation.

Eurecat, which participates in the project through its Smart Management Systems Unit is the responsible of applying data-driven technologies for the detection of contamination and pathogens events. Moreover, the Unit elaborates semantic models for ensuring interoperability and contextualisation of the information under the reference architecture.

The consortium of the project is coordinated by the University of Cyprus and counts with the participation of 22 partners from different European countries such as Cyprus, Greece, Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Bulgaria and Romania, together with South Korea.
