Printing of 3D products through recycled CFRPs and polymers to demonstrate the repurpose of these type of materials.
Repair3D, through advanced nanotechnology solutions and additive manufacturing (AM), allows to reuse and recycle these materials in an innovative way and minimize the waste generated by plastics and CFRPs.
The application of this project can increase the recovery rate of polymers up to 40% and monetary saving related to recycling up to 50%, while decreasing in half the cost of production and raw materials.
The innovations launched by Repair3D could create a new paradigm of the recycling, applicable at a local level and with the collaboration of the industrial sector. These innovations will also create recycled and competitive products, reducing costs and demonstrating the importance of an ecological design.
Eurecat participates in the project through its Advanced Manufacturing Processes Unit, task leader of the processing of recycled materials through additive manufacturing techniques, offering its knowledge and experience in additive manufacturing of structures and products and in advanced design techniques, and the Product Development Unit, responsible to design pieces in which apply CFIP technology, property of Eurecat, to reinforce pieces made of additive manufacturing technologies, with carbon fibres.
The project, coordinated by Warrant hub (Italy), is formed by 17 partners from 5 countries of the European Union such as the Technological Institute of Packaging, Transport and Logistics (Spain), the Technology Research Institute Jules Verne (France), Sigmatex (United Kingdom), Gent University (Germany) and the National Polytechnic University of Athens (Greece).
