ROBOXEF EURECAT

Pilot test of an hamburger chef robot.

Roboxef has developed a robot capable of preparing hamburgers autonomously using an advanced robotic manipulator arm.

The process has been studied and optimised at each stage to ensure efficient execution that meets the standards of the catering sector, achieving a result suitable for consumption.

To develop this application, it has been necessary to analyse in detail the process of preparing hamburgers, identifying the tools and utensils required and adapting them for robotic handling. Among these adaptations, tools such as spatulas and other cooking utensils have been modified so that the robot can pick them up and use them with precision.

A simulation scenario has been created to validate the optimal position and distribution of all the elements of the workstation. This virtual environment has made it possible to check that the robot can perform all the required operations, following optimal trajectories and avoiding areas that the robot should not visit, thus minimising errors and ensuring safety.

This pilot test arises from a PADIH requested by a restaurant that is committed to the development of robotics in the catering sector, with the aim of boosting efficiency and quality in food preparation processes.

This project has demonstrated the potential of robotisation in food processing and opens the door to future scalable applications in the catering industry. As collaborative robots evolve, this technology could be applied in the preparation of a wide variety of dishes.

In the long term, this solution could be integrated into other kitchen functions, maintaining a high level of food safety and adapting to the needs of each establishment.

The Eurecat Robotics and Automation Unit has designed and validated an autonomous system for the robot chef, optimising tools and trajectories to guarantee efficiency and safety in the preparation of hamburgers.
