Development of a set of tools to facilitate and improve the assessment of data value.
Privacy and trust remain key in the data sharing debate and therefore Privacy enhancing technologies (PET) will play a prominent role by 2025.
The Safe-DEED project takes a highly interdisciplinary approach, bringing together partners from data science, cryptography, business innovation and legal domain to focus on improving the economic growth of the sector and the trust in modern data-economy.
Furthermore, as it has been recently shown that even among large companies, many have no data valuation process in place, Safe-DEED provides a Data Valuation Component incentivizing data owners to make use of the scalable cryptographic protocols developed by the project to create value for their companies and their clients.
The Big Data & Data Science Unit of Eurecat is leading the work focused on the design and implementation of the Big Data Valuation Component, used to assess the knowledge value of a certain corpus of structured data without having to completely analyse it. The data valuation methods that the project is developing consider both contextual and non-contextual uses of data and factor in data quality properties as well as the utility of a dataset in a concrete context. The Big Data Valuation Component is used in two scenarios: data from industrial partners (manufacturing and telecom) and open data.
Safe-DEED, coordinated by the research centre Know-Center (Austria), counts with the participation of a consortium formed by 8 partners from different European countries.
