Development of smart labels using contactless technology.
The SmartLabels project is an inter-cluster and trans-autonomous initiative with the aim of developing smart labels using contactless technology, to offer improvements in functionalities in the packaging sector such as product traceability or counterfeit control systems.
To this end, NFC antennas have been developed using printed electronics taking into account the geometry of the packaging. An application has also been designed and implemented to read these antennas and verify the authenticity of the products.
Eurecat participates in the project through its Functional Printing & Embedded Devices Unit, which has been in charge of the design, printing and hybridisation of the antennas on flexible substrates. The rest of the consortium is made up of two national clusters (the Packaging Cluster and the Galician Food Cluster) and 3 SMEs (IPE Industria Gráfica; the Cooperativa Vitivinícola Arousana SCG –Paco&Lola– and the Bodega Matarromera).
