A solution for smart water management in urban environments that responds to the market demands of those responsible for its management (planning, improving performance, locating leaks, expanding designs, saving energy, optimizing control, etc.) and facilitates communication with industrial suppliers of network components (manufacturers of pumps, valves, etc.).
In order to overcome the initial barriers, the URBANAGU4.0 project has generated a conversion methodology for the integration of hydraulic models in EPANET format (used by many companies) into a programming environment that enables the application of control and monitoring solutions based on models.
The URBANAGU4.0 solution has been built from open source software specialized in water supply and management, which makes it possible to connect different software solutions and databases in order to configure a high-performance management environment.
The URBANAGU4.0 project facilitates the use of models in urban water management using advanced ICT tools that communicate in real time with the set of industrial components comprising the network and the pre-existing systems.
The project, led by the Catalan Association for Innovation and Internationalization of the Water Sector (Catalan Water Partnership), involved the participation of ABM Engineering and Consulting Services, B’GEO Open Gis & Water Solutions, PRODAISA and Eurecat, through its Sustainability Unit, experts in predictive simulation of hydraulics and water quality in urban and industrial networks. The unit also has extensive experience in technologies for the treatment of urban and industrial wastewater for reuse, as well as the treatment of groundwater and contaminated soils.
