The project represents an affordable solution covering the broadest range of contaminated site characteristics, for meeting the new EU Drinking Water Directive targets.<\/p>\n<p>PFAS substances are a group of highly persistent chemical antigens presents in the environment and in the human body, which are difficult to degrade and can accumulate over time. These substances have been found to frequently pollute ground and surface waters and soils and cleaning up these contaminated areas is technically complicated and costly.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s remediation approach combines a range of innovative on-site technologies, including surface foam fractionation, anion exchange filters, electrochemical oxidation and phytoremediation. These will be demonstrated at a landfill site in Sweden and an industrial site in Spain.<\/p>\n<p>Eurecat coordinates and participates in the project through the <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/water-air-soil\/\">Water, Air and Soil Unit (WAS)<\/a> the <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/waste-energy-environmental-impact\/\">Waste, Energy and Environmental Impact Unit (WEEI)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/services\/technology-consultancy\/\">Consultancy Department<\/a>. The consortium of the project also counts with the participation of the engineering <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esolve.es\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESOLVE<\/a> (Spain), the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.slu.se\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sgi.se\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Swedish Geotechnical Institute<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uppsalavatten.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uppsala Vatten<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/novadiamant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nova Diamant<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/envytech.se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EnvyTech Solutions<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.laqua.se\/\" target=\"_blank\"
