efficiency, cost and durability of metallic bipolar plates<\/strong>, a key component to guarantee the <strong>energy efficiency of proton exchange membrane (PEM) hydrogen fuel cells<\/strong> for application in the automotive sector.<\/p>\n<p>The technological innovation of the project is based on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>New geometric plate designs<\/strong> by Finite Element Method (FEM) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations.<\/li>\n<li>Development and improvement of <strong>plate manufacturing techniques<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of <strong>alternative metallic materials to reduce the cost and weight of the plates<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Development of <strong>protective, electrically conductive and corrosion-resistant coatings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The energy transition towards electromobility and sustainability requires <strong>rapid and efficient technological reconversion <\/strong>from companies that manufacture components for vehicles with combustion engines to guarantee their survival and competitiveness in such a strategic sector for the Spanish economy.<\/p>\n<p>Eurecat participates in the FormPlate project through its <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/materials-metallics-ceramics\/\">Metallic and Ceramic Materials Unit<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/product-innovation-multiphysics-simulation\/\">Product Innovation &amp; Multiphysics Simulation Unit<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/chemical-technology\/\">Chemical Technology Unit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from Eurecat, the project is participated by the company <a href=\"https:\/\/estamp.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESTAMP S.A.U<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column
