identified in the field of PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating technology to improve the mechanical performance and durability of components and tools used mainly in the metal-mechanic sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The project develops an <strong>innovative PVD hard coating technology<\/strong> that allows <strong>high thicknesses of up to 100 microns<\/strong> to be achieved at high deposition rates (20 microns\/hour), enabling its application in new industrial sectors that were previously unapproachable.<\/p>\n<p>This innovation constitutes a <strong>real, technically, economically and environmentally viable alternative<\/strong> to other coating technologies that, like hexavalent hard chromate, present serious problems of toxicity and environmental pollution.<\/p>\n<p>PVD allows the <strong>application of dense, well-adhered coatings with high hardness, low friction and high resistance to wear and corrosion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Eurecat participates in the THICK-COAT project through its <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/\">Metallic and Ceramic Materials Unit<\/a>, in charge of developing an innovative cathodic arc evaporation source, as well as the morphological and mechanical characterisation of the coatings obtained with this new source.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Eurecat, the project consortium is formed by the company <a href=\"https:\/\/grupttc.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tratamientos T\u00e9rmicos Carreras S.A<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-1 fusion_builder_column_1_3 1_3 fusion-one-third fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;width:30.6666%;\"><div
