In the case of production, on the one hand the combination of microwave pretreatment with fermentation and reforming, and on the other hand thermochemical processes, are investigated. For purification, different technologies are also being investigated, such as membrane reactors, for the selective separation of H<sub>2<\/sub> and its enrichment.<\/p>\n<p>VAL2H2 responds to multiple challenges, addressing not only energy but also the transformation to a circular economy, and soil and water conservation.<\/p>\n<p>Eurecat participates in the VAL2H2 project through two of its technological units:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/waste-energy-environmental-impact\/\">Waste, Energy and Environmental Impact Unit (WEEI)<\/a> investigates the production of H<sub>2<\/sub> through pyrolysis and catalytic gasification from different biowastes.
