NIMBLE\u2019s model is based on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Simplifying last-mile distribution by centralising deliveries at smart lockers, thereby reducing route complexity, operating time and, the impact of delivery vehicles on urban traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Redistributing delivery times to off-peak hours and night times to ease traffic congestion.<\/li>\n<li>Deploying a last-mile distribution model to small stores via sustainable light cargo vehicles, enhancing the user experience for these outlets.<\/li>\n<li>Reducing road traffic density and its impact on urban life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ultimately, <strong>NIMBLE addresses <\/strong><strong>congestion and pollution challenges and inefficient logistics systems in urban areas<\/strong> while <strong>enhancing economic viability for small businesses<\/strong> and <strong>improving overall quality of life in cities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Urban freight distribution currently accounts for 10-15% of automobile fleet and causes 25% of carbon dioxide emissions and up to 50% of other pollutants according to the European Road Transport Research Advisory Council (ERTRAC) and the Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe (ALICE).<\/p>\n<p>These congestion and pollution levels, both acoustic and airborne, are harmful for citizens and for the city itself, provoking a loss of the urban space, and the quality of it, that directly affects economic, cultural, and social activity, reducing health and quality of life.<\/p>\n<p>Eurecat participates in the NIMBLE project through its <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/it-ot-security\/\">IT&amp;OT Security Unit<\/a>, providing expertise in cybersecurity matters to ensure that the implemented solutions fulfil all requirements.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s consortium is coordinated by <a href=\"https:\/\/carnetbarcelona.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CARNET Barcelona<\/a> and is made up of 5 European partners.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-clearfix\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-1 fusion_builder_column_1_3 1_3 fusion-one-third fusion-column-last\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;width:30.6666%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-column-wrapper-legacy\"><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-2 fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-three\" style=\"--awb-margin-top-small:0px;--awb-margin-right-small:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-small:20px;--awb-margin-left-small:0px;\"><h3 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\">General details<\/h3><span class=\"awb-title-spacer\"><\/span><div class=\"title-sep-container\"><div class=\"title-sep sep-double sep-solid\" style=\"border-color:#e0dede;\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\" style=\"--awb-text-transform:none;\"><p><strong>Project<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NIMBLE \u2013 Nighttime and last-mile sustainable logistics for small stores<\/p>\n<div id=\"gtx-trans\" style=\"position: absolute;
