Breaking frontiers in sustainable and circular biocomposites with high performance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

BIOntier<\/strong> creates an industrial platform to develop the new generation of multifunctional, sustainable, and recyclable bio-based composites (BioC) with enhanced properties<\/strong> for sectors such as automotive, aerospace, energy, and water treatment.<\/p>\n

The project promotes advanced manufacturing processes, improving synthesis and stability while reducing environmental impact<\/strong>. The initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the EU Green Deal.<\/p>\n

BIOntier also fosters collaboration and establishes networks to tackle environmental challenges, demonstrating high-level industrial applications and opening new opportunities for BioC adoption in European industries.<\/p>\n

The global BioC market reached over \u20ac27 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.63% by 2030. In Europe, the bio-based plastics market is projected to grow from 0.77 Mton in 2023 to 1.49 Mton by 2028, with a CAGR of 14.08%. The demand for BioC is increasing due to greater awareness of environmental sustainability and the need for eco-friendly, renewable materials, driven by the expanding forest and wood industries.<\/p>\n

Eurecat\u2019s Polymeric and Composites Processes<\/a> Unit takes part in the project by facilitating the sustainability requirements in the development of materials and manufacturing processes. It is also responsible for scaling up biomaterial formulations developed by other consortium partners.<\/p>\n<\/div>
