Online open management platform\u00a0<\/strong>with the aim to improve the balance between supply and demand, and through it, to make it possible to save water and reduce the associated energy consumption.<\/p>\n

The platform developed by WatERP<\/strong> project\u00a0enables to integrate the knowledge related to supply and demand of water in real-time and in a unified way. It enables to improve the coordination among different agents of water management to save resources.<\/p>\n

The main purpose of the interaction between processes and information is to improve the balance between supply and demand, and through it, to make it possible to save water and reduce the associated energy consumption. WatERP is essentially founded on the knowledge of the water domain, promoting: a) a decision support system that acts in a coordinated manner throughout the entire supply and distribution chain, prioritising the usages and the improvement of efficiency in distribution; and b) a demand management system that analyses the socioeconomic and regulatory factors, which, combined with the rest of the available information, will enable a prediction of the supply in keeping with the demand.<\/p>\n

The aim of the management platform is to provide the users (companies, authorities and end users) with an infrastructure that facilitates the exchange of information among systems and which considerably improves the coordinated action among all involved players. A better exchange of knowledge of the water supply, such as flows, consumption patterns, efficiency in distribution \/ supply and anticipation of demand will enable the integral management of the resources and increase the knowledge of the managers. This perfecting of the management has led to the following results:<\/p>\n

– Savings of up to 8% in water consumption.<\/strong> Chiefly in areas of water shortage, with efficient distribution systems and where better savings can be achieved through a better coordination among the operators at the top of the distribution chain.
\n– Reduction of up to 5% in energy consumption<\/strong>. Primarily in areas where water is abundant and the distribution is efficient, yet where energy savings could help to cut costs.
\n– Additional savings in water and energy consumption, thanks to greater awareness among users<\/strong> and their changes in behaviour.<\/p>\n

Eurecat- BDigital, the coordinator of the project, is the scientific leader and the head of the development of the knowledge base, of the open architecture for the exchange of information and of the decision support system. It also represents the consortium before different standardisation bodies (OGC\u00ae).<\/p>\n<\/div>
