To use this biogas as a fuel is needed to remove the hydrogen sulphide contained through desulfurization technologies that present high environmental impacts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LIFE BIOGASNET<\/strong> project develops an innovative technology, based on biological processes, since it couples a <strong>biotrickling filter to a nitrification bioreactor<\/strong>, with the aim to promote the use of biogas as a sustainable energy source.<\/p>\n<p>Technology of LIFE BIOGASNET presents potential environmental advantages compared to current practices of biogas desulfurization: it can reduce the environmental footprint up to 55% by reducing the carbon dioxide emission, it reduces reagent consumption and additionally, it allows to obtain a secondary raw material minimizing the waste production.<\/p>\n<p>During the project, which counts with the participation of <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/field-of-knowledge\/sustainability\/\">Sustainability Unit of Eurecat<\/a>, a prototype will be designed, constructed and operated in two-different facilities situated in Cadiz and Athens in order to validate the technology and demonstrate its robustness under different conditions.<\/p>\n<p>LIFE BIOGASNET consortium is formed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upc.edu\/en?set_language=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/aeris.es\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AERIS Environmental Technologies<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uca.es\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">University of Cadiz (UCA)<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntua.gr\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Technical University of Athens (NTUA)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/bioreciclaje.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bioreciclaje C\u00e1diz<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"YouTube video player\"
