Researchers from the Eurecat<\/a><\/strong> technology centre and the Autonomous University of Madrid<\/strong><\/a> (UAM) have looked at the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown<\/strong> on the performance of university students<\/strong>. Their research concludes that the hard work done by students and lecturers during this period has led to a significant rise in academic performance, which translates into better marks.<\/p>\n

The data show that there has been an unmistakable improvement since lockdown in the shape of an increase of between one and two points out of ten in marks earned. The pass rate has risen by 20 percentage points from 70% to 90%, while the number of students sitting exams has also gone up by 10 percentage points from 85% to 95%.<\/p>\n

As for the likely causes, the research<\/a><\/strong> points to the constructive and responsible response of students and lecturers to the situation by doing the activities suggested and redoubling efforts to teach the syllabus with all the means at their disposal respectively.<\/p>\n

The study was carried out with 458 students enrolled in the subjects of Applied Computer Science and Design of Water Treatment Facilities for the degree in Chemical Engineering and Metabolism for the degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
