The\u00a0Eurecat<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0technology centre is taking part in the European WATER-MINING<\/strong>\u00a0project\u00a0aimed at demonstrating smart and efficient water management\u00a0systems<\/strong> to drive the transition to a circular economy through innovative solutions for recovering resources from industrial and urban wastewater and seawater.<\/p>\n

Xavier Mart\u00ednez-Llad\u00f3, Director of Eurecat\u2019s Water, Air and Soil Unit, says drawing on the circular economy in water management \u201copens the door to reusing the water itself and regenerating the recovered resources\u201d to \u201cenhance their availability\u201d. In this respect the project includes examples for the global implementation of the European Union\u2019s Water Framework Directive<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBesides the technical aspects, the project will bring together efforts to evaluate the circularity of the proposed solutions by analysing their sustainability through the development of a system of environmental indicators,\u201d commented Frederic Clarens, Director of Eurecat\u2019s Waste, Energy and Environmental Impact Unit. \u201cThat\u2019s because validating and conveying the environmental gain\u00a0is a prerequisite to smooth the transition to a circular economy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The WATER-MINING project is led by Delft University of Technology<\/a>\u00a0(Netherlands) and has 38 partners in 12 countries. The project has \u20ac17 million in funding from the European Union\u2019s Horizon 2020 research programme.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
