{"id":106421,"date":"2020-07-23T09:24:46","date_gmt":"2020-07-23T09:24:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/?p=106421"},"modified":"2020-10-19T08:23:55","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T08:23:55","slug":"pilot-test-to-identify-nodules-indicating-potential-lung-cancer-x-rays-deep-learning-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/pilot-test-to-identify-nodules-indicating-potential-lung-cancer-x-rays-deep-learning-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Pilot test begins to identify nodules indicating potential lung cancer in X-rays using deep learning technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Researchers from the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tauli.cat\/tauli\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Parc Taul\u00ed Research and Innovation Institute<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(I3PT) and the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/eurecat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eurecat<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0technology\u00a0centre are to begin a three-month pilot test to <strong>identify\u00a0nodules\u00a0<\/strong>which may be indicators of potential lung cancer on X-rays using<strong>\u00a0deep learning<\/strong> technology.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is part of the <strong>LuCaDAlert<\/strong> (Lung Cancer CAD Alert) project which has developed algorithms that can detect lung cancer\u00a0nodules in chest X-rays recorded in the Parc Taul\u00ed Diagnostic Imaging Service\u2019s digital medical imaging systems.<\/p>\n<p>The pilot test is designed to clinically validate the operation of the algorithms. It will consist of analysing all pleural plaques which are not reported by radiologists \u2013 since they are performed for other purposes \u2013 to identify potential lung nodules.
