The\u00a0Hartmann Group<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and the Eurecat<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0technology centre have devised a new\u00a0smart dressing <\/strong>using bio-inks which enable colorimetric detection of bacterial infections.<\/p>\n

The project is called\u00a0K-BacTrack <\/strong>and has been funded by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI) as part of its R&D Projects work strand. \u201cThe idea is to enhance the quality of life of patients who have injuries through continuous monitoring,\u201d says Fernando Gonz\u00e1lez, Development Director at Paul Hartmann S.A.<\/p>\n

Gonz\u00e1lez points out that this constant monitoring of the injury \u201cwill make it possible to minimise detection and therapy times\u201d which in turn will help \u201cto cut the costs of the clinical services\u201d involved in treatment.<\/p>\n

The project\u2019s main technological challenge has been to get a biocompatible sensor system in a solid medium and reactive to proteins by colorimetric indication which is stable over time and in the conditions of use on the skin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
