{"id":122172,"date":"2021-11-17T09:04:32","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T08:04:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/fabriquen-marcs-de-finestres-de-composite-termoplastic-per-reduir-el-pes-dels-avions\/"},"modified":"2022-04-17T23:22:30","modified_gmt":"2022-04-17T22:22:30","slug":"thermoplastic-composite-window-frames-to-reduce-aircraft-weight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/thermoplastic-composite-window-frames-to-reduce-aircraft-weight\/","title":{"rendered":"Thermoplastic composite window frames to reduce aircraft weight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/eurecat.org\/\">Eurecat<\/a>\u00a0technology centre has developed thermoplastic composite window frames for regional aircraft using advanced industrial manufacturing processes to reduce part weight and production costs.<\/p>\n<p>The innovation comes under the WINFRAME 4.0 project which \u201chas enabled us to draw on thermoplastic composites for building regional aircraft and also develop faster and more reliable processes by using carbon fibre-reinforced polymers and innovative manufacturing concepts,\u201d says Mar\u00eda Eugenia Rodr\u00edguez, the director of Eurecat\u2019s Composites Unit.<\/p>\n<p>The innovation undertaken \u201cdemonstrates the potential of Industry 4.0 when it comes to solving technological problems in manufacturing processes for complex thermoplastic-based structures,\u201d she adds. It shows they \u201ccan meet the challenges posed by new sustainability standards and the circular economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coordinated by Eurecat, WINFRAME 4.0 has been run under the CleanSky 2 call with LEONARDO as topic manager and the support of Sofitec Aero.<\/p>\n<p>On the technical side, WINFRAME 4.0 has involved implementing \u201cout-of-autoclave\u201d technology which makes for significant cost savings in the manufacture of lightweight structural parts in the aeronautical industry.<\/p>\n<p>The Composite Materials Unit has led the design and manufacture of the tooling coupled with validation of the process by building the thermoplastic composite window frame demonstrators while Sofitec Aero has assembled the complete window.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Eurecat\u00a0technology centre has developed thermoplastic composite window frames for regional aircraft using advanced industrial manufacturing processes to reduce part weight and production costs.
