{"id":125278,"date":"2021-03-04T11:24:22","date_gmt":"2021-03-04T10:24:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/noves-tecnologies-descarbonitzacio-edificis\/"},"modified":"2022-07-25T17:19:10","modified_gmt":"2022-07-25T16:19:10","slug":"eurecat-engaged-in-project-developing-new-technologies-to-drive-building-decarbonisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/eurecat-engaged-in-project-developing-new-technologies-to-drive-building-decarbonisation\/","title":{"rendered":"Eurecat engaged in project developing new technologies to drive building decarbonisation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/eurecat.org\/\"><strong>Eurecat<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>technology centre is taking part in the European\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stepup-project.eu\/\"><strong>StepUP<\/strong><\/a> project which is developing affordable solutions and technologies designed to transform the\u00a0<strong>energy renovation<\/strong>\u00a0market and make\u00a0<strong>decarbonising<\/strong>\u00a0existing buildings a reliable, attractive and sustainable investment.<\/p>\n<p>It will do this by developing technology which draws on occupant feedback and supports an iterative approach to energy renovation anchored in real and simulated data so as to \u201cminimise performance issues, alleviate financial barriers and optimise investments,\u201d says project coordinator Giulia Barbano from Integrated Environmental Solutions Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>StepUP will deliver a real opportunity to reach net zero emission buildings by providing a non-intrusive, fast and reliable deep renovation intervention solution which will \u201cminimise the duration of onsite works and the risk of installation errors,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n<p>This means StepUP \u201caddresses the European challenge of achieving decarbonisation of existing buildings by 2050 in line with the recently launched Renovation Wave strategy,\u201d notes Frederic Clarens, director of Eurecat\u2019s Waste, Energy and Environmental Impact Unit.<\/p>\n<p>This goal \u201cwill only be achieved if cost-effective technologies and comprehensive solutions are developed for energy renovation of the building stock,\u201d points out Irene Rafols, director of Eurecat\u2019s Product Development Unit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Solutions for various types of buildings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The solutions developed in the project will be used for three building types: multi-family residential dwellings, public non-residential buildings and rental private office buildings.<\/p>\n<p>By harnessing mass produced plug&amp;play components, StepUP technologies cut installation time to minimise the inconvenience to building occupants which renovations usually entail.<\/p>\n<p>The project also addresses developing data intelligence solutions for sound decision-making at the design stage and monitoring building performance after implementation. It additionally fosters new financing models for interventions targeting energy optimisation, enhanced comfort and cost recovery over the lifetime of the building.<\/p>\n<p>New renovation technologies include a new plug&amp;play ventilated envelope panel integrating windows together with provision for fitting new building HVAC systems to make energy usage more flexible.<\/p>\n<p>The StepUp project is made up of a consortium of nine partners from seven European countries including two technology transfer institutions (Eurecat and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unismart.it\/en\/\">Unismart<\/a>), six industrial companies (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iesve.com\/\">IES<\/a>\u00a0and IES R&amp;D,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mannigroup.com\/\">Manni Group<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.suntherm.dk\/\">Suntherm,<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abud.hu\/\">ABUD<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/energinvest.be\/\">Energinvest<\/a>) and two owners and contractors (<a href=\"https:\/\/acr.es\/\">ACR<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bp18.hu\/\">Municipality of 18th District of Budapest<\/a>).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Eurecat\u00a0technology centre is taking part in the European\u00a0StepUP project which is developing affordable solutions and technologies designed to transform the\u00a0energy renovation\u00a0market and make\u00a0decarbonising\u00a0existing buildings a reliable, attractive and sustainable investment.
