This is because they can generate consistent conclusions by tapping a wide variety of data sources, as was showcased today at the <a href=\"https:\/\/aicongress.barcelona\/\">AI &amp; Big Data Congress<\/a> held in Barcelona.<\/p>\n<p>Artificial intelligence now has the ability to \u201canswer three levels of questions in prediction, the effect of actions and intervention, and the third, explanation,\u201d argued Judea Pearl, director of Cognitive Systems at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and one of the pioneering scientists in AI research.<\/p>\n<p>Causal relationships \u201chave always been a hindrance for humans and machines alike because of the uncertainty in decision-making due to the inability to process all the existing information and noise,\u201d he added. However, now we have a language \u201cwhich can infer the conclusion in a meaningful way if we input our knowledge about the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArtificial intelligence is already part of our lives and its impact is on the rise,\u201d pointed out Therese Jamaa, vice-president of Huawei Spain and the Spanish Red Cross Foundation, who noted that these \u201ctechnologies are able to simulate characteristic components of human behaviour and can now learn automatically.\u201d As such, \u201cthis type of intelligence is yielding huge breakthroughs in sectors such as education, healthcare and environmental protection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany industries can reap the benefits of AI, albeit always with the principle of responsibility in mind, by unpacking the advantages and limitations of using AI in each case,\u201d she suggested. \u201cIf all industries grasp this principle and shoulder their own responsibilities, AI will continue to thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":127541,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[415,2290,743],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-135556","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-big-data-en","category-ict","category-press-notes-en"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 -
