{"id":159954,"date":"2024-09-12T09:44:51","date_gmt":"2024-09-12T07:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/?p=159954"},"modified":"2024-09-24T10:54:51","modified_gmt":"2024-09-24T08:54:51","slug":"centre-for-omic-sciences-to-address-the-role-of-microbiota-in-nutritional-clinical-and-environmental-studies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/centre-for-omic-sciences-to-address-the-role-of-microbiota-in-nutritional-clinical-and-environmental-studies\/","title":{"rendered":"Centre for Omic Sciences to address the role of microbiota in nutritional, clinical and environmental studies"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 fusion-flex-container has-pattern-background has-mask-background nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"--awb-border-radius-top-left:0px;--awb-border-radius-top-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-left:0px;--awb-flex-wrap:wrap;\" ><div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start fusion-flex-content-wrap\" style=\"max-width:1424.8px;margin-left: calc(-4% \/ 2 );margin-right: calc(-4% \/ 2 );\"><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-width-large:100%;--awb-margin-top-large:0px;--awb-spacing-right-large:1.92%;--awb-margin-bottom-large:20px;--awb-spacing-left-large:1.92%;--awb-width-medium:100%;--awb-order-medium:0;--awb-spacing-right-medium:1.92%;--awb-spacing-left-medium:1.92%;--awb-width-small:100%;--awb-order-small:0;--awb-spacing-right-small:1.92%;--awb-spacing-left-small:1.92%;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-column-has-shadow fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p>This October, the second Symposium of the Centre for Omic Sciences, a joint unit of the <a href=\"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/\">Eurecat<\/a> technology centre and Rovira i Virgili University (URV), will address the latest advances in understanding microbiota and their role in clinical studies in various fields of health, nutritional interventions and the environment with academic and industry experts.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium will furnish a comprehensive overview of the role of microbiota in diverse contexts and showcase the application of innovative technologies and techniques related to genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics in biotech, biomedical and environmental research.<\/p>\n<p>Microbiota are a \u201ckey component in understanding and improving human health, nutrition and the environment,\u201d says N\u00faria Canela, Technical Director at the Centre for Omic Sciences. \u201cGut microbiota influence the digestion, absorption and metabolism of nutrients, and it has been shown that balanced microbiota can help to prevent metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes while they are also correlated with autoimmune disorders and mental illness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, in the environmental context \u201cthe microbiota of ecosystems such as soil and water play an essential role in biogeochemical cycles, pollutant degradation and fostering plant and animal health.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The session on microbiota in nutritional studies at the symposium will feature Laboratorios Ordesa, Rovira i Virgili University and the Centre for Omic Sciences, while the role of microbiota in clinical studies will be unpacked with experts and projects from Perseus Biomics, the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute and Vall d\u2019Hebron Research Institute. Meanwhile, the University of Minho, the University of Barcelona and Nobobiom will present the case studies in the session on environmental microbiota.<\/p>\n<p>The symposium will also include a visit to the Reus facilities of the Centre for Omic Sciences, a node in the OmicsTech Unique Science and Technology Infrastructures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Registration open for the second COS Symposium<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Registration is now open for the second COS Symposium which will be held on 18 October from 9 am to 6 pm in the Great Hall of the Faculty of Economics at the URV\u2019s Bellisens Campus in Reus.<\/p>\n<p>The event, which can also be watched online, will have a specific section for presenting posters of innovation projects and the most outstanding entries will be selected for short oral presentations.
