Caballero<\/strong>, Research Professor at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cenim.csic.es\/en\/home-english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spanish National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CENIM-CSIC)<\/a> and <strong>NewAIMS<\/strong> partner, participated in <strong>the <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.matscitech.org\/MST24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MS&amp;T24 Technical Meeting and Exhibition<\/a><\/strong>, held from October 6th to 9th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States.<\/p>\n<p>During the MS&amp;T24 event, <strong>Francisca G. Caballero<\/strong> delivered a presentation titled \u201c<strong><em>Phase Transformations in Additive Manufacturing of Tool Steels<\/em><\/strong>,\u201d which provided an overview of the <strong>NewAIMS<\/strong> project and the previous research outcomes that inspired it. Her talk was part of the &#8220;<strong><em>Iron and Steel (Ferrous Alloys)<\/em><\/strong>&#8221; conference topic and was included in the session &#8220;<strong><em>Austenite Formation and Decomposition V: A Symposium in Memory of Prof. Mats Hillert<\/em><\/strong>,&#8221; chaired by Amy Clarke from Los Alamos National Lab.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation focused on the <strong>complexity of non-equilibrium and non-uniform microstructures formed during the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) process in maraging steels<\/strong>, exploring the precipitation of intermetallic phases and the growth or reversion of austenite during the ageing process.
