The Safe&Clean project has kicked off. Project partners have met in Manresa (Spain) on July 29th<\/sup> 2025, aiming to demonstrate that CO2<\/sub> steel with high recycled content can safely meet the stringent requirements of modern automotive safety components.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, all partners presented their entity and an outline of the tasks to be carried out during the project.<\/p>\n

The Safe&Clean project<\/a> will analyse two industrial use cases and evaluate how cleaner and sustainable steels perform in high-responsibility automotive parts. The project focuses on k<\/span>ey safety factors such as crash performance, fatigue behaviour, weldability, and structural integrity of assembled components, all supported by consistent quality of low-CO<\/span>2<\/sub><\/span> steel grades.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The project, coordinated by Eurecat Technology Centre of Catalonia<\/a>, is participated by nine entities, including actors from the steel industry, the automotive safety sector and research organisations: Autotech Engineering Deutschland<\/a>, Centro Ricerche Fiat<\/a>, I2M, IDIADA<\/a>, Istituto Italiano della Saldatura (IIS)<\/a>, the University of Mondragon<\/a>, SSAB, Salzgitter AG and the University of Siegen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
