{"id":84828,"date":"2019-06-07T09:54:54","date_gmt":"2019-06-07T09:54:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/?p=84828"},"modified":"2019-07-19T07:26:39","modified_gmt":"2019-07-19T07:26:39","slug":"new-telemedicine-app-monitors-patients-mechanical-ventilation-therapy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/new-telemedicine-app-monitors-patients-mechanical-ventilation-therapy\/","title":{"rendered":"New telemedicine app monitors patients\u2019 mechanical ventilation therapy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The company OXIGEN salud, the <a href=\"http:\/\/eurecat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eurecat<\/a> technology centre (a member of Tecnio) and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.irblleida.org\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lleida Biomedical Research Institute<\/a> are developing a new telemedicine app dubbed MyVENT, which will allow for improved monitoring of patients\u2019 mechanical ventilation therapy. The aim of the initiative is to improve the provision of healthcare resources to patients and provide support to the different actors involved in the treatment of <strong>sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (SAHS)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The app allows patients to <strong>find out about and monitor their therapy and automatically sends them information<\/strong>\u00a0on the progress of their treatment, along with suggestions and recommendations on how to optimize the treatment. It also provides access to manuals that may be of interest and enables patients to contact OXIGEN salud if they have any queries or wish to schedule a home visit, among other functions.<\/p>\n<p>The tool is being developed as part of the <strong>Research Challenges<\/strong> project organized by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. According to Ana Mayoral, the Medical Director of OXIGEN salud, \u201cthe new app will enable healthcare professionals to monitor the therapy more closely and prioritize more vulnerable patients, thereby preventing unnecessary hospital visits and\/or repeat hospitalizations. Additionally, by actively involving patients in their own treatment process, the app will contribute to patient empowerment\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As well as being able to monitor each patient\u2019s treatment, healthcare professionals will also receive an alert if a patient fails to keep to their treatment plan.<\/p>\n<p>The project is funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and by the European Union, within the framework of the call Retos-Colaboraci\u00f3n 2017 of the State Program of Research, Development and Innovation Oriented to the Challenges of Society, and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), with the main objective of promoting technological development, innovation and quality research.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The company OXIGEN salud, the Eurecat technology centre (a member of Tecnio) and the Lleida Biomedical Research Institute are developing a new telemedicine app dubbed MyVENT, which will allow for improved monitoring of patients\u2019 mechanical ventilation therapy.
