{"id":95378,"date":"2019-07-12T08:40:52","date_gmt":"2019-07-12T08:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/?p=95378"},"modified":"2020-01-31T09:49:17","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T09:49:17","slug":"value-users-travel-time-is-being-studied-in-order-to-design-more-suitable-transport-systems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eurecat.org\/en\/value-users-travel-time-is-being-studied-in-order-to-design-more-suitable-transport-systems\/","title":{"rendered":"The value of users\u2019 travel time is being studied in order to design more suitable transport systems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/eurecat.org\/es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eurecat<\/a><\/strong> technology centre (a member of Tecnio) is taking part in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/motivproject.eu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MoTiV<\/a><\/strong>, a European project that will analyse the <strong>value of the travel time<\/strong> of people who use public transport (e.g. metro\/subway systems, trams and buses), private transport (e.g. cars, motorcycles and bicycles) or who travel on foot. The project\u2019s aim is to design systems that adapt better to their users\u2019 needs: not only from an economic perspective, but also in terms of users\u2019 motivations, preferences and behaviour.<\/p>\n<p>One of the project\u2019s initiatives is the <strong>#Viajopor1MoTiVo<\/strong> campaign, which requires 5,000 volunteers across Europe to register on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.woorti.com\/es.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Woorti<\/a> mobile app and provide a rating for at least one journey per day over the course of two weeks. The app is designed to collect data that will help to provide an understanding of how users value their travel time and the factors that influence their experience.<\/p>\n<p>In the words of Marc Torrent, the Director of Eurecat\u2019s Big Data and Data Science Unit, \u201cthe Woorti app is a platform that enables us to collect relevant data on mobility and behaviour at the European level. Subsequently, we can analyse and compare the data, identify patterns and make recommendations to European authorities on how to improve their transport systems\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The project is coordinated by the University of Zilina in Slovakia and forms part of the European Union\u2019s Horizon 2020 programme.
