The Eurecat<\/a><\/strong> technology centre (a member of Tecnio) is taking part in the Fiware4Wate<\/strong>r research and innovation project. Over the next three years, Fiware4Water will develop and trial innovative digital technology solutions for the management of water resources, based on Big Data and other IT-based tools. The solutions will be tested under real-world conditions in the cities of Athens (Greece), Cannes (France), Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Cranbrook (United Kingdom).<\/p>\n

According to Gabriel Anzaldi, the Director of Eurecat\u2019s Smart Management Systems Unit, the project aims to offer innovative solutions to an industry where \u201cthe development of Big Data and other IT-based tools and applications for resource management have been slow to arrive. This delay is the result of the fragmentation of the sector, recurring problems related to the interoperability of the different systems used, the standardization of data and the interchange of formats and languages\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cFiware4Water will have a positive impact on all of the end users of water: from cities, water agencies and companies in the water industry, to solutions providers and citizens themselves\u201d, added Xavier Domingo, the Head of Eurecat\u2019s Applied Intelligence Unit.<\/p>\n

The project is funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the International Office for Water (OIEau). It will connect the water industry to a platform for smart solutions dubbed \u201cFIWARE\u201d, which aims to help developers and SMEs to create the next generation of Internet services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
