However, these steels are also more susceptible to <strong>hydrogen embrittlement<\/strong>, leading to premature fracture of components manufactured from these steels.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">For this reason, the main objective of the <strong>H2FORM3G<\/strong> project is to provide the necessary tools to prevent the risk of crack generation during the shaping of automotive components. To achieve this goal, the project will combine comprehensive studies of the effect of hydrogen on the microstructure of steels with advanced characterisation methodologies, such as the use of synchrotron radiation and predictive models.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As highlighted by the project coordinator and head of the Corrosion and Degradation Line of Eurecat's Metallic and Ceramic Materials Unit, <strong>S\u00edlvia Molas<\/strong>, \"the new characterisation methodologies and predictive models that will be studied in the project will contribute to accelerating the design and optimisation of lighter steel automotive components, while also enhancing safety in the event of a collision due to a better understanding of the behaviour of these materials during forming, which will help to prevent potential crack generation.\"<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The project, with a total budget of almost 2.9 million euros, is funded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/research-fund-coal-and-steel-rfcs_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Union's Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS)<\/a>, with the aim of contributing to the advancement of the <a href=\"https:\/\/commission.europa.eu\/strategy-and-policy\/priorities-2019-2024\/european-green-deal_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Green Deal<\/a> roadmap.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The <strong>H2FORM3G<\/strong> consortium is composed by entities from four European countries: Spain, France, Austria, and Italy. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The partners are: Eurecat, synchrotron Alba-Cells, Ecole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure de Techniques Avanc\u00e9es Bretagne, Arcelormittal Maizi\u00e8res Research, Voestalpine Stahl, Centro Richerche Fiat, MA SRL, Letomec, Universit\u00e9 de Bretagne Sud, Universit\u00e1 di Pisa and Institut de la Corrosion Sasu. <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The consortium includes technology centers, universities and research institutes, steel sector producers and suppliers, automotive companies, and a spin-off company.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><hr \/>\n<p>Photograph credit: ArcelorMittal<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":160362,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2844,2439],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-160587","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-h2form3g-es","category-proyectos"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
