The NewAIMS project was present in the FEMS Junior EUROMAT 2024 conference, held in Manchester (United Kingdom) on July 15th-18th.

On July 16th, Ana Santana, project partner and PhD student from the Spanish National Center for Metallurgical Research (CENIM-CSIC), presented her work “Micro- and nanoscale study on austenite phase distribution and composition and its effect on microstructural evolution during ageing in a LPBF-produced maraging steel”, which is related to the NewAIMS project.

The results presented sparked great interest among those that attended the presentation, which is very promising for the ongoing work and the future results to be presented.

The presentation was held after the plenary session “Dynamic Imaging of atomic behaviour of materials in liquids using advanced transmission electron microscopy”, and more in particular in the topic “Structural materials”, chaired by Nikolaos Michailidis from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

FEMS Junior EUROMAT inspires, develops and celebrates the skills and work of students and early career materials scientists and engineers with a comprehensive programme covering topics like functional materials, structural materials, processing technologies, characterisation and modelling or materials for sustainability.
