Eurecat and Clínica Dental Centre have collaborated in the creation of two geolocation devices for dentistry, DentalTag and OrthoTrack, which incorporate the Internet of Things and printed electronics.
The DentalTag device addresses an issue detected at Clínica Dental Centre among older patients: the loss of their dental prostheses. Integrating sensors and connectivity into these prostheses provides a way to locate them. In addition, DentalTag also includes a low‑power battery, a wireless charging system, and an app.
For its part, the OrthoTrack device makes it possible to monitor orthodontic usage time. These treatments, which correct the position of the teeth, require consistency in wearing the appliance, and this can be challenging, especially for children. The developed solution enables monitoring of appliance usage through the incorporation of a set of sensors and electronic components.
Eurecat has collaborated with the Clinic in materializing the first prototype and in developing the electronics, firmware, battery, wireless charging, app, and validation of its operation.
