Escofet is a company dedicated to manufacturing prefabricated concrete street furniture.

Since 2015, it has allied with Eurecat as a technological ally to innovate in high-performance materials and concretes.

In 2022, they responded to the urban challenge set by Barcelona City Council and BIT Habitat Foundation to redefine the panot with the aim of making it more sustainable.

Escofet, Molins, and Eurecat have developed R3PANOT, a sustainable paving tile for 21st-century Barcelona. The proposal allows, without altering the design or construction sections, a 70% reduction in carbon footprint and the incorporation of up to 30% recycled material into the final product.

Eurecat, through its Product Innovation and Multiphysics Simulation unit, with the involvement of the Waste, Energy and Environmental Impact, and Metallic and Ceramic Materials units, has contributed to the project’s coordination and the calculation of its environmental impact.

The R3PANOT project was selected as one of the three finalists in the challenge. Currently, the pilot test pieces are installed in various locations across the city of Barcelona.
