Ocean Ecostructures is a Catalan startup specialised in renaturalising marine infrastructures.
Since 2021, Eurecat has been their technological partner in innovative projects focus on regenerating marine biodiversity and tackling climate change.
As Ocean Ecostructures’ technological partner, Eurecat has worked on various R+D+I projects to optimise its product: a biomimetic reef that replicates the functions of a coastal marine ecosystem and is designed to be installed in marine infrastructures such as ports, offshore platforms, and coastal areas.
The R+D+I activities have focused on using digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, to monitor and report on the positive impact of the biomimetic reef. Additionally, the product has also been enhanced in both function and design through advanced modelling, simulations, and material characterisation.
One of the latest projects, OASIS, focuses on implementing nature-based solutions to reduce the environmental impact of port infrastructures and turn ports into active agents of biodiversity regeneration.
