The LIFE PRISTINE project was featured at the IDRA World Congress, held from December 9th-12th, 2024, in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates).

Ana Jiménez Banzo, Head of Innovation MGT & Technology Transfer from ACCIONA, presented the initiative during the session “Desalination and Reuse: Regulations,” which took place on December 10th.

In her presentation, entitled “Towards an Innovative Solution to Enhance Water Reuse by Removing Contaminants of Emerging Concern in Wastewater Treatment Systems,” she outlined the project’s objectives and advancements in the removal of Contaminants of Emerging Concern (CECs) from water streams.

She emphasized how the LIFE PRISTINE project provides an adaptable, integrated solution for both drinking water and wastewater treatment. This approach is particularly relevant given the European Commission’s recent proposals to revise regulations surrounding pollutants that need to be monitored in surface and groundwater bodies.

The 2024 IDRA World Congress featured a broad range of presentations, with a primary focus on desalination and water reuse technologies. It provided a platform for knowledge exchange, fostering collaboration and discussions aimed at addressing the growing global water scarcity crisis.

The congress brought together leading experts, policymakers, and industry stakeholders from around the world to discuss innovative solutions for water security, with a focus on desalination and water reuse technologies.
