Francisca G. Caballero, Research Professor at the Spanish National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CENIM-CSIC) and NewAIMS partner, attended the TMS 2024 Annual Meeting & Exhibition, taking place on March 3rd-7th in Orlando (United States).
During the event, she delivered the talk “Metastable phases in additive manufacturing produced maraging 300 steel”, which included an overview of the NewAIMS project and the previous outcomes that motivated it.
The presentation showed how the difference in chemical homogeneity and phase distribution of additive manufacturing produced maraging 300 steel affect the microstructural evolution during ageing treatments.
Moreover, Francisca G. Caballero introduced results on microstructure and spatially resolved composition investigations, that revealed revealed the micro- and nanostructures of apparently well-known materials after synthesizing and processing them via novel additive manufacturing methods.
The presentation, given on March 7th, was part of the symposium “High Performance Steels” and was included in the session “Steel Performance II”, chaired by Melissa Thrun, from Los Alamos National Lab.
The TMS Annual Meeting & Exhibition, organised by the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), brings together more than 4.000 engineers, scientists, business leaders, and other professionals in the minerals, metals, and materials fields for a comprehensive, cross-disciplinary exchange of technical knowledge.
