REBUILDING TO LAST

Promoting the sustainable future of cultural spaces.

The Rebuilding to Last project aims to develop the capacity of cultural spaces to address the sustainable future of their buildings and their organisations through an inspiring and leading transformation among cultural teams, audiences, communities, cities and beyond.

Rebuilding to Last investigates how non-governmental cultural centers are integrating sustainable practices into the renovation of their buildings and their general operation, and conversely, identify inhibitors to sustainable practices (e.g. lack of access to finance).

In addition, the project sensitises managers of non-governmental cultural centers, as well as other building-based cultural organisations and their public, about the EU’s environmental sustainability priorities (Green Deal).

The vision is to enable the grassroots and community leaders of cultural spaces to become environmentally sustainable, energy efficient and carbon neutral and not only have a positive impact on users and local communities, but also may they also become inspiring leaders in a new movement for green culture in Europe and around the world.

Eurecat participates in this project through its Product Innovation and Multiphysics Simulation Unit, in charge of generating content on sustainable construction, and the Training Department, which leads training activities and online courses.

The Rebuilding to Last consortium, led by Trans Europe Halles, is made up of 12 organisations from all over Europe, including companies, universities, research centers and cultural networks.
