The Eurecat technology centre is taking part in the DonaIndústria 4.0 Digital and Female Transformation entrepreneurship programme, which kicked off this July with the goal of boosting the digitalisation of Catalan manufacturing through the talent of ten women entrepreneurs with a tech background who will pursue a training pathway in advanced technology and personalised mentoring.

The programme is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan grants, financed by the European Union through NextGeneration EU funds, and in addition to Eurecat also involves the Digital Cluster of Catalonia, Acceleralia and FIDEM as implementing actors.

Eurecat is tasked with designing and delivering the training pathway, drawing on its applied technological expertise gained from decades of industrial R&D and innovation to ensure that the learning is at the forefront of market needs.

The programme covers key technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, cybersecurity and automation coupled with skills in innovation, management and entrepreneurship geared towards crafting new business models in industry.

All the content combines a solid theoretical foundation with a distinctly practical approach and is taught by professionals with extensive experience in national and European applied research projects and strategic consulting.

Specifically, DonaIndustria 4.0 offers a 90-hour advanced technology training package which includes practical sessions with leading Catalan industrial enterprises. The training is rounded off with 90 hours of personalised mentoring for the participants delivered by Acceleralia and FIDEM, a foundation made up of female entrepreneurs from all sectors who will support the participants in driving forward the development and viability of their entrepreneurial projects to make a real impact in the sector.

“We are very proud to lead the training in a programme like DonaIndústria 4.0, which brings together two major priorities that match our vision of being leaders in transformational technologies to build a sustainable and prosperous future: the digital transformation of industry and the promotion of female leadership,” says Marc Capellades, director of Eurecat Academy who underscores the programme’s alignment with the technology centre’s mission.

“The sponsoring organisations share a common vision: investing in training that generates real innovative impact and has an inclusive outlook,” adds Joana Barbany, chair of the Digital Cluster of Catalonia, who believes that “DonaIndustria 4.0 is an opportunity to turn ideas into projects and talent into transformational leadership” to shift towards “more competitive, technological industry with a female presence.”

Vibrant and connected learning community

Apart from the training sessions, participants will have access to a digital platform as a learning, collaboration and networking community. It will allow them to share experiences, build synergies and stay connected to the entrepreneurial and industrial ecosystem even after the programme ends.

The opening day took place on 30 June and was attended by Joana Barbany, chair of the Digital Cluster of Catalonia; Marc Capellades, director of Eurecat Academy; Ton Guardiet, founder and director of Acceleralia; Mónica Bonafonte, member of the FIDEM Board, and Verónica Sánchez, member of FIDEM – Entrepreneurship Area. All of them shared the view that it is important to pool skills to build a more inclusive, innovative and sustainable industrial model.
