Bionet is a company specialised in environmental services such as waste management, pest control, and biosecurity.

It has developed, in collaboration with Eurecat and other partners, a prototype mobile station for the early detection of invasive exotic species.

Controlling invasive species is a key factor in preventing damage to biodiversity, impacts on public health, and economic costs.

Bionet, a company specialised in environmental services, and Eurecat have collaborated on developing a prototype station, located at the Port of Barcelona, that provides early detection of invasive exotic species.

Controlling invasive exotic species is a key factor in mitigating the costs resulting from the damage they can cause, not only to the economy or biodiversity but also to public health, through potential pandemics or disease outbreaks.

The station, conceived and developed as part of the EXOVIEWER project, incorporates multi-capture insect traps into a single mobile device. Cameras capture images of the trapping sheets and send them for subsequent identification and classification. This insect monitoring system enables near real-time tracking of the species’ evolution and facilitates the implementation of appropriate preventive measures.

This initiative has received support from the Port of Barcelona and the Generalitat de Catalunya. The companies Batallé, Mylva, and INNOVACC have also participated.
