The Eurecat technology centre will showcase its latest breakthroughs in applied research and innovation in digital technologies at the Digital Enterprise Show (DES), which is being held this week in Malaga, alongside other world-renowned experts and businesses.

Eurecat experts will talk about the new success stories in cognitive robotics resulting from implementing artificial intelligence, unlocking quantum computing and the new paradigm of the Internet of Things made possible by plastronics.

“Eurecat’s backing for this world-leading trade fair on the digital transformation of companies is renewed after the success of last year’s edition,” says Joan Guasch, director of R&D&I Policies at Eurecat. “Plus this time round we are joined by Verónica Ramírez, the new director of Eurecat Innova Málaga.

“The partnerships forged with digital innovation system businesses and players in the city, which has won Smart City awards, enable Eurecat to continue growing in talent, knowhow, technological capabilities and markets.”

At the Digital Enterprise Show, Eurecat experts are taking part in sessions and discussions to unpack the main challenges in digital transformation with the businesses in attendance. The idea is to bring technological solutions which enhance their market positioning and make them more competitive.

These include artificial intelligence applied to healthcare robotics, a topic that the conference is tackling with a panel discussion entitled “Connected intelligence: how AI, IoT and robotics are reshaping mobility and smart systems” moderated by Elías Gargallo, head of Business Development for Digital Industries and Experience at Eurecat, and also featuring Magí Dalmau, head of Cognitive Robotics at Eurecat.

“Taking AI to the Limit: AI-based applied research” is the title of a talk that Elías Gargallo will also give in which he will discuss technological innovation projects involving artificial intelligence algorithms developed by Eurecat drawing on success stories in collaboration with industrial partners.

Another prominent theme this year is the application of quantum computing in the use of artificial intelligence. Pol Torres, a researcher at Eurecat’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Unit, is to take part with other researchers in the panel discussion “Quantum Computing: Solving the Unsolvable” to share the current state of the art in quantum computing technology.

The fair will also feature a special session on plastronics technology, “Plastronics: AI-controlled devices using smart plastic parts”. Iker Arroyo, Head of the In Mould Electronics Line in Eurecat’s Functional Printing and Embedded Devices Unit, will be taking an in-depth look at this innovation which makes it possible to add artificial intelligence to plastic components and equip them with functions.

Likewise, Xavier Plantà, director of the Industrial Technologies Area at Eurecat, will be speaking at a session on manufacturing and green innovation entitled “Start-ups on the Rise! Banking and Insurance” at which he will present Aracne, the Eurecat spin-off specialising in the development of predictive and quality control systems for the knitted fabric manufacturing process.
